Dave Newell
Being as the forecasts are that this weather will continue till the end of next week at least and that NE Britain is one of the worst areas hit by snow so far I'd say postpone the shopping plans, better do it later than get stuck or worse. spospe
We were booked into the Rowntree Park site in York, starting this Friday and staying untill Tuesday. Had a phone call from the site yesterday to say that they have had "a foot and a half of snow" and that all bookings have been cancelled :-(
scramblers
If I were brave enough (saying no to the wife!) I would postpone the trip citing bad weather and then hope the sales were on. A win/win situation - staying at home in the warmth and saving money. :-D
ips
spospe - 2010-12-02 12:26 PM We were booked into the Rowntree Park site in York, starting this Friday and staying untill Tuesday. Had a phone call from the site yesterday to say that they have had "a foot and a half of snow" and that all bookings have been cancelled :-( I was informed by the very nice lady at rowntree that they were not cancelling but on your head be it type scenario. Anyway the weekend is now up the proverbial swannie, so need to come up with an alternative as mrs ips has got time off work and mini ips has taken a day offf college. mrs ips just informed me that a trip to manchester xmas market is on the cards, oh lucky me a trip to manchester city centre whoopy doo. :-(

Mel B
Ian ... York - don't do it! There are train cancellations all over the place and some can only get so far along the lines - do you really want to end up stranded on a train, freezing, for hours on end, or end up on a bus or in a taxi (provided for by the train company) and spend hours in traffic .... 8-) Quite apart from anything else, surely you don't want to expose your loved ones to the additional risk of travelling in this atrocious weather? ... unless they're well insured! :D ;-)
