andy mccord
Im looking to buy online a smell trap for my ace airstream 630EW, the frost has cracked the body of it so it now leaks when taking a shower, Ive seen this one on Ebay which states that it fits a 23mm inside diameter, but swift tell me that the ones they use are off a 28mm outside diameter, do you think this one could be the same one? 2.5 mm thick on each side? upto 28mm http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/WASTE-PIPE-SMELL-TRAP-Fits-23mm-inside-dia-pipe-/300370887104 Regards Andy
Robinhood
Don't know - but CAK Tanks (where I always look first for such spares) do 28mm ones cheaper than that (though postage may be more).www.caktanks.co.uk
andy mccord
I looked on there site, but they are not the same type, not sure if it matters really? Cheers Andy
Derek Uzzell
I believe the CAK 28mm product is primarily designed for rigid 'domestic type' plastic pipework (which may, or may not, be what's used on an Ace Airstream) or adapters are required. See: http://content.yudu.com/Library/A1n1ev/CAKTANKSCARAVANACCES/resources/23.htm I've looked at your SwiftTalk inquiry and the photo provided there http://tinyurl.com/64dnrmy certainly looks very similar to the e-bay item. andy mccord
Yes they do look similar Derek, sods law would have it swift quote outside diameter and the seller quotes inside diameter, I guess given the cost of this item its worth a gamble. Robinhood
As Derek points out, the CAK one appears to be designed for 28mm rigid pipe, to slot into the fitting. The one you have shown (and the ones on my last swift van were of a similar type) is designed to take flexible waste pipe, which fits 'over' the fitting (and would normally be clipped or otherwise secured).Whether it will fit will depend, as you say, on the inside diameter of the pipe. If it is convoluted flexible pipe, there is a noticeable difference between inside and outside diameters, which is illustrated by the shape of the adapter used between rigid and flexible pipe (e.g.) http://www.leisureshopdirect.com/caravan/home/product_24461/Female_Socket_Adaptor.aspx If it is currently clipped or otherwise secured, you may well be buying the correct part from eBay. silverback
Hi Andy, on the ebay item, use their "contact us" link, and just ask em to measure it, or if you have your part to hand measure the inside diameter jonathan
andy mccord
Ok thanks for your thoughts guys, the part is still on the van as im away this W/end in it, the attachment is hard pipe on one end ( direct to the waste tank) and flexi hose with a jubilee from the shower.
