Flying to OZ/NZ

If you are planning a trip to OZ/NZ and don't fancy the usual 11/12 hour flights I can recommend Royal Brunei Airlines http://www.bruneiair.com/uk/

They fly from London using the Boeing 777 with a 7 hour leg to Dubai, after a 2 hour refuelling stop there is a 7.30 min leg to Brunei.

Then there are onward flights to Perth (5 hours) Brisbane (6 hours?) and from March the start a new service to Melbourne. There's also an onward fight from Brunei to Auckland (NZ)

Their prices are competitive especially on business class where the the London-Perth fare for two persons is £3000 cheaper than BA/QANTAS.

We have use Royal Brunei a few times and like to have a stop over for a couple of days at th Radisson hotel in Brunei before the onward flight to OZ.

Safe travelling.

we looked at flights there a few years ago, not heard of brunei airlines, but some of the asian airlines [think it was singapore or malaysian] were offering free free 1 or 2 night stops in their country if you flew by them plus they were cheaper than BA & AIR NZ, & QANTAS.

Not sure i would fly Qantas they seem to have serious probs with either their engines or their contracted 3rd party servicing.

now BA are risky as there is always the threat of strikes.

Good tip Don seems a bit more civilised then the long haul...How is your trip going? :-D

Hi Eddie,

Trip is going very well so far. :-D

Had a very good flight and four nights in Brunei to get over the jet lag before going on to Perth.

Our bodies had a bit of a shock in Brunei going from minus double figures centigrade to plus double figures with 80% humidity.

The weather in Perth has been around the low 30's C with a couple of days at 37/8 8-)

We were very lucky with the apartment we rented it was better than we dared hoped for situated in a quiet area of southern Perth.

We have found the cost of living here is very expensive with the very poor exchange rate.

Regards

Don
