hiring a motorhome

We are planning to buy a motorhome in the future but would like to hire a fixed single bed, low profile suitable for a couple, to see if it suits our needs. I have looked on the internet but haven't found any yet. We live in the Midlands but are willing to travel to hire a suitable van. Has anyone hired something similar or know of a hire firm that could help?

We hired twice before buying. You said you don't mind travelling, we hired both times in Germany, two reasons firstly we had made our minds up we wanted a Hymer therefore there wasn't much point in hiring anything else, secondly hire prices in Germany are the lowest in Europe about half UK prices.

Yes yes yes yes yes. Hire before you buy, it's the only way to ensure you don't buy something you find later is unsuitable. We spent 18 months looking for ours then hired (twice) to check. First was a private hire (a Chausson which didn't suit us) then a Swift Bolero from Abacus in Hampshire (which did and which we subsequently bought).

Won't go into the build quality debate 'cos a lot depends on the PDI the dealer does (or does not!)

This company advertise regularly in MMM (although I don't have any experience) & were doing a deal with Marquis? where the Hire was refundable against subsequent purchase of a new Motorhome.

But check it's still applicable !!!!!!!!!

Swift Bolero 680FB on their fleet & 360 video on the site.

I don't know how relevant it may be now but last September 'Stormy' hired from them and his detailed review is Here. I think it would be worth reading and taking notes for any hire firm.

Thanks again, but this is not a fixed bed. I am being fussy but want to try the fixed single beds option to see if it works for us. There just doesn't seem to many out there to hire.

This company have one with an Auto box, _ Chatteris, Cambridgeshire

BUT I have no knowledge of them other than finding their website.

You are a star. This company has just what we are looking for and we have booked the C.I. Cipro 85 for a week at the beginning of April. They were extremely helpful and gave us 20% discount. I will let you know how we get on touring the east coast. Many thanks for your help.
