gillwill
We are planning to buy a motorhome in the future but would like to hire a fixed single bed, low profile suitable for a couple, to see if it suits our needs. I have looked on the internet but haven't found any yet. We live in the Midlands but are willing to travel to hire a suitable van. Has anyone hired something similar or know of a hire firm that could help?
lennyhb
We hired twice before buying. You said you don't mind travelling, we hired both times in Germany, two reasons firstly we had made our minds up we wanted a Hymer therefore there wasn't much point in hiring anything else, secondly hire prices in Germany are the lowest in Europe about half UK prices. gillwill
I was thinking of hiring in the UK but thanks for the tip. we are leaning towards a foreign model as they seem to have better build quality from what we have read.

TerryL
Yes yes yes yes yes. Hire before you buy, it's the only way to ensure you don't buy something you find later is unsuitable. We spent 18 months looking for ours then hired (twice) to check. First was a private hire (a Chausson which didn't suit us) then a Swift Bolero from Abacus in Hampshire (which did and which we subsequently bought). Won't go into the build quality debate 'cos a lot depends on the PDI the dealer does (or does not!)

thebishbus
Hi again. Just noticed to see Warwickshire Motorhome hire charges, look at their other site. www.pjbmotorhomehire.co.uk PS. They also do panel van conversions. Brian B.

gillwill
Thanks for the suggestions but neither Abacus or Warwickshire Motorhomes do a van with fixed single beds which is what we want to try out. I will keep looking, perhaps a private hire is the next option.

gillwill
Thanks again, but this is not a fixed bed. I am being fussy but want to try the fixed single beds option to see if it works for us. There just doesn't seem to many out there to hire. gillwill
You are a star. This company has just what we are looking for and we have booked the C.I. Cipro 85 for a week at the beginning of April. They were extremely helpful and gave us 20% discount. I will let you know how we get on touring the east coast. Many thanks for your help.
