Like any tv you have to take it with a big pinch of salt, but it is one of the few programs I watch on tv. I visited a caravan builder couple of years ago , we where only allowed to see the vans from outside, but they where stunning.

Hi,Knight, I have had up close contact with the travelling community at the Port of Belfast, in my job as a security guard and did not have a good time with them for 3 years!

They have very strong legal representation behind them and the only thing I can say is they do not use extension mirrors when towing their trailers ,which made them easy to spot among the ferry traffic.

Has anyone watched My big fat gypsy wedding on channel 4? if so, what do you think of the gypsy/travelling community?

Its another thing that never fails to surprise me, .... what people will do, or put up with just to be on the telly. I wonder what they think of themselves.

When you've seen one programme like this you have really have seen them all, you don't need to watch anymore of them.

Fascinating series. Watched every episode so far.

All the girls dress like prostitutes teetering around on stilleto heels with their boobs almost falling out! Most of them seem to have big boobs and small waists. Even the six and seven year old girls flash the flesh, body pop and cavort around like tarts. I suppose they have to learn fast as most are married by 16 or 17.

The common vein throughout though is just how much money they have. The latest episode shows Paddy (who else?!) taking delivery of his new Audi coupe. He changes his cars every six months. 8-) Then he takes his wife shopping for new furniture and blows a few grand.

Seems the women are there to cook, clean and serve their husbands!

Paddy gets his money from a bit of tarmacing and buying and selling, the camp site which is in Brindle Heath Salford is owned by Salford Council but is run and managed by Paddy who gets a wage from the council.

No one can pitch up on the site unless they pay a weekly "fee" to Paddy, he is the "big fella" and his word is law, Brindle Heath is an industrial area covered in razor wire and you dont run a business down there unless you are prepared to pay protection money to the site residents.

Don't worry someone will soon blow his head off with a 12 bore. (lol)

Two of the gyppos from the Bury site were shot and wounded by the gyppos from the Rochdale site last week, they have now moved into drug dealing as a better option than picking up scrap metal.

I'm finding this series very interesting.

In the earlier episodes, despite how prevocatively the girls were dressed,I was surprised at just how high their morals were when it came to boys(chaperoned on dates etc..)..although as the series has progressed, that now seems to be probably more to do with the control the males have over them, than any higher ideals.

In the girls' defence though,as "tarty" as they all dressed, they *were* only mimicking images they've seen on the tv

(..images that are being produced and spewed out by the "straight & decent" sector of society.. ;-) ).

Although it was/is VERY bizzare how they dress their young girls..!?! 8-) ...and I was quite shocked how they tended to take their girls out of school at the age of 12-13!(..they showed on a hen/stag do they went paint balling and they couldn't read and write good enough to fill in the forms!)

Did anyone see The One Show last night?

They had one of the chaps on who made the series, along with one of the travellers...and boy was the traveller unhappy with the way the programme was portraying them! (..I can't imagine why!? *-) ),saying how the voice over was factually inaccurate and that the programme didn't show that some travellers have "proper" jobs, pay taxes etc...

..he wasn't too pleased when the presenter asked him how they could afford such lavish weddings either!! 8-) :D

I can't say I'd want to be on the wrong side of Paddy and have him and his mates knocking on my door...

:-S

..and your point is?.. :D

(..*prepares to log off quick !*... (lol) )

Pretty much how it always used to be before women got the vote and Greer encouraged girls to burn their bras.......much to the delight of many guys of course, but the bra burners simply failed to figure that out first! (lol)

The image of 'the woman' being chained to the kitchen sink dutifully serving her husband has long gone in society of today, but women have never had true equality with men. After all.....they have to retire before men and still do......but it will be some time before they manage to figure that one out to!

I am not small minded or prudish in any way but one thing did cross my mind on watching the rather well endowed teenage girls cavorting on the dance floor letting it all hang out.

Was the way that the younger girls aged perhaps 10 or so were so provocativly dressed, that might be ok within a private party safe with friends and relatives, but it was for all to see on TV, how many paedo types were also watching and perhaps getting turned on by what they saw, god forbid that one of them was so turned on that it triggered off an attack on a completely innocent kid. Just a thought?
