Wonderful news

This morning at 11.30am I was waiting for a pre-arranged phone call from Dr Choudry my oncologist at Christies Cancer research centre in Manchester.

She asked a series of questions regarding my recent radio therapy and she said that you will be pleased to know that we have battered **** out of your prostate cancer and you are now clear.

She then said that I am one of their main guys because because of the clinical trials that I volunteered for in order to help with their cancer research programme.

She said that they are producing a booklet to give to all future cancer patients and would I be prepared to answer patients questions, which I said of course, anything to help the Christie, so at the moment life for me is beautiful.

Great stuff Malcolm - I am really pleased to hear that. :-D Wonderful to think that modern medicine is such that prostate cancer is something you die with now rather than of.

If you find your selves in the Weywouth Dorset area on your travels let us know and if we are down at our caravan maybe we could get together.

Clive,

We go down to the CCC site at Moreton quite often, which is of course not far from Weymouth. We like to see and hear the big bangs at the Bovington Tank Museum.

Hi Malcolm - we are at the Warmwell Caravan park (not the large Warmwell Holiday park) a bit further down from the Morton site - just to the south of Crossways and north of Warmwell.

When you are down that way - let us know - a drink at the Frampton Arms by the level crossing sounds like a good idea! :-D

Malcolm I am so pleased for you .

My father also had good news on that front this week .

After a giant batch of Chemo for another cancer elsewhere he was so relieved to hear that he didnt have to have Radio therapy.

the bad news is they can now see something in his bowel .

I am so pleased to hear your news after all the doom I have heard lately. ;-)

I'd just like to thank everyone for their kind wishes and support given in this thread, I have mentioned a time or two that i have been going to hospital for treatment but i have never said what for.

The very mention of cancer puts the fear of god in people but in my opinion talking about it dispels a lot of the myths concerning this dreadful disease, I am 4 years down the line in my treatment and i am doing very well, no matter how hard or tough you might think you are, when you get that diagnosis your world collapses and you are left frightened and worried.

There will be many people who have been given that bad news this very day and they will now be in bed unable to sleep through worry, in my own little way i would like to reach out to them and tell them all is not lost, the treatment and care you get from the hospitals is second to none, so once again thank you all for your kind wishes.

I've had two bouts of skin cancer and got over it by refusing to be beaten by it.

It does not concern me one bit if I am affected elsewhere on or within my body.

Something will get me one day and I'm rather bemused to learn what it may be, until then I don't give a hoot about getting cancer or any other illness that I may be afflicted by, I aim to get my two pennyworth out of life.

I love life, its what gets me out of bed each day.
