terryW
Can you help please? We are looking for good sites on the Spanish south coast for next winter. We have plenty of experience of Spain but have never wintered so this will be a first and the priority is to have a great time rather than do it cheaply and spoil the experience. Our preference would be a site on a beach but close to a town so we can walk or cycle in for tapas etc. We would appreciate any recommendations please and thanks for your time B-)

Whist all reasonable sites none are in the south coast and with the exception of La manga they can all be cold in January Richard
terryW
Thanks, yes we twigged that having made a couple of visits to that area in May/September. So far we appear to be zooming in on 'Don Cactus' near Carchuna from what we can see via ACSI/Google/Caravan club
Wirralian
Hi Terry If your preference is for a site in Southern Spain near the beach but within a couple of minutes walking distance of town, then I would recommend Camping Torre del Mar on the Costa del Sol. There is another site, Camping Laguna (which some may regard as a nicer site) a bit further from town but still very much within walking distance. From Torre del Mar the esplanade extends for 3 miles to Algorrobo Costa, providing a pleasant cycle ride (or walk) past several small bars! Since the end of January we have only had three or four days of rain with wall to wall sunshine most days. The temperature has topped 20 C quite a few days. (Having said all that, we are expecting the usual early March storm next week!) John
terryW
Thanks for that John, sounds just the sort of place we are looking for. I'll research it a bit more in the morning. As much as we love Wales it's been a misty 3-5 degrees today making it feal like -10 and we are fed up with it. The Winters just get longer and longer. peedee
There is also Camping Las Dunas near Cadiz and Jerez http://www.lasdunascamping.com/01_Principal.php?lang=EN You should find several reviews for it if you do a search. MHFacts certainly has some. peedee

timofleeds
Hi Terry, there is a new site due to open in June 2011. It is located between Alicante and La Manga on the Costa Blanca. www.campinglomonte-alicante.com It looks to be a very smart site with lots of facilities and good discounts for longer stays. We have a house in the area and can confirm the area is very nice with an "open all year" town only 2 miles from the site and a "open during the summer town" on the doorstep with lovely beaches a short walk away. If anybody wants any further info on the area please let me know. Regards Tim
