Guest Catherine
Hi there, does anyone have (or know where I can buy) replacement windows for an FFB motor caravan tabbert classic (570 twin axel rigid body 1993). I can't seem to find parts anywhere online for this!!! Please help if you can. :-)
Guest Frank Gordon
I know that some German A-class motorhomes have glass windows and, if that's what you need, then I can't really help (though you might find that a boat specialist could point you in the right direction. If you are looking for plastic windows then you could try www.miriad-products.com ("Polyplastic"-brand windows) or www.eeco-ltd.co.uk (made-to-measure replacement windows). I doubt that you will find unique FFB motorhome spares being offered on-line - the vehicles were never mass produced and there can't be many in the UK. Guest Catherine Bond
Hi Frank, many thanks for your prompt reply. The windows are perspex and so fingers crossed your recommendations will be a great help. Thanks also for confirming why it has been so difficult to find parts! It's a great help to understand why I've struggled to find anything on google!!
Guest Frank Gordon
A brief follow-up... I notice that a company called Runaway Motorhomes (www.runawaymotorhomes.co.uk) had a FFB Tabbert in stock until quite recently, so may be able to assist with where to get matching replacement windows. Plastic windows usually have the maker's name on them (eg "Polyplastic" or "Seitz") and, if you can find a name on yours, I'm sure it would help. Tabbert is now part of the German Knaus Group and the UK importer for Knaus motorhomes is Lowdham Leisureworld (www.lowdhamleisure.com). Might be worth you trying them if you have no luck elsewhere. Guest Catherine Bond
Hi Frank, I've just had some news... my friend's motorhome has been in the garage, and he's just found out that the engine is dead! (He leant it to a friend of his who drove it without water, so blew the pistons through). Needless to say, we're not happy about the whole situation. So my new question is - any ideas on where we can get a replacement engine. (peugot diesel turbot 2500CC). Or if another engine would fit? Apparently it's quite a small space. I'm wondering where to turn next. We just want to sell the motorhome but it's useless without the engine. :-(
Guest Neil
Whats the Tabbert like? - we like the look of it but are they any problems. We have not brought one yet. Did you manage to get an engine for yours?
Guest catherine bond
Hi Neil, I don't know what the tabbert is like - in fact I've never seen what it looks like! It's owned by a friend of mine who doesn't use PCs very often.... he's needed help on it as you can see from the previous stories, and this forum has been a god-send in finding out info so that I can help him get it fixed. He's had it put into a garage to replace the engine, and the windows come next. When I find out more info on the engine and window replacement I'll post the info here to help others. best wishes Cath
Guest Neil
OK, thanks, I hope the engine replacement goes well. The only thing I was going to recommened was to get a 2nd hand van and take the van out of that. 2,5 diesel engines should not be to hard to find. Guest andy
Hey neil, i've got a 1981 tabbert on merc basis, like most tabs ive come across the motor has been taken out and replaced with the 3 litre 5 cyl. motor, i say most it is actually 3 out of 4 so its not as though i've come across loads.I've only had mine a year and done about 6k miles,so far no problems and none expected, total oil usage 2 litres on 6k makes me happy(prev motor transit based) tabs have an outstanding rep and build quality is 11/10(really) got a potential glass issue coming but lets face it 25 years is quite some time so i'm not gonna cry over it. hope this helps, thanks to frank for clues on glass
