calorlite shortage

There was talk of this on another forum.

What a couple of folk "said" was that even when they did find some, the retailer would only exchange "like for like",possibly meaning that some folk were holding on to their empties, until they could exchange it for a 'lite?

Not sure how much of an impact that would have though(...if there isn't enough of them, there isn't enough of them..).

We've no 'lites around by us..but on the positive side,it's made us look at our gas again and we're now going to swap our 6kg for a 13kg,(..ever so slightly heavier than a Calorlite,I know.. *-) )

..as I had no idea how much cheaper the bigger bottles were!(£25 for the 13kg) :$

I discussed Calor Lite with the Calor exhibitors at last month's NEC show.

Calor's official exchange policy for Calor Lite canisters is as follows:

http://www.caravanning-online.co.uk/CalorLite/latest-news.htm

If you've got a 7kg(butane) or 6kg(propane) Calor cylinder, you SHOULD be able to exchange this free-of-charge for a 6kg(propane) Calor Lite bottle. However, if the Calor agent doesn't want to do that, and insists on exchanging Calor Lite cylinders only on a like-for-like basis, then Calor (in my experience) won't instruct the agent to alter his/her policy.
