Poppy
This is for anyone contemplating travelling in Bosnia.Their very helpful travel advice site has the following warning. While towns/cities,villages and roads are all perfectly safe there are still mines in the open countryside. The advice for anyone wanting togo rambling in the countryside is to find and take with you a local guide who will know where is safe (a lot apparently) and where is not. I got the Lonley Planet and there was no mention of mines!
Guest JudgeMental
Funny enough my copy of Rough guide to Croatia only arrived yesterday so have not really read that much yet....... For our summer trip to Croatia we are driving down Rejika and across bridge to Island of Krk (sandy beachs in south) then ferry across to other Island Cres then ferry over to Istria peninsula for the remaing time...Then up to Italian lakes via Venice :-D maybe I can pick up a few cheap machine guns and sell them in south london to fund the trip on my return *-)
malc d
We came across the same thing in the back lanes of Croatia a few years ago. Here is a sign to look out for. ( I realised what it was just as my missus was about to wander off into the woods to pick flowers) :
