My brother and his wife are getting tempted by this motorhoming milarky.

They've so far seen two specific vehicles that have caught their eye:

1. A 2011 model Chausson Welcome 78EB (not sure if it's brand new, or a very little used 2nd hand).

2. A 2008 year Adria "Coral S690SP".

I'd be very grateful for other owners real-world comments about either of these motorhomes, both positive and negative.

Maybe also comments from any owners of similar models from the same makers............

Many thanks.

I like the Adria build quality, I think they have an edge...nearly went for one but went for the Eura instead because of the double floor, light weight construction etc....

Hey Brucie-baby!

Do what the rest of us do and 'search' the forum ... I know I've posted my comments about Chaussons before!

:->

I did do that before I posted, but nothing on these 2 specific models came up for me..............and I'm trying to get for him any model-specific info that might exist amongst forum members..........

Hi BGD

I have no personal input regarding the pros & cons of each Model.

MMM review of the Chausson Welcome 78EB on this site:-

Highbridge website has specification info on the Chausson Welcome.

A review of the Adria Coral here:-

http://www.practicalmotorhome.com/review/motorhome/2008-adria-coral-s-690-sp

pros - Smart bedroom. Good payload on 3.5-tonne chassis.

cons - Poorly executed washroom and kitchen

Scroll down for Specs & images.

Having seen the plans, advise them to check payloads very carefully.  These will be long vans, so with relatively high masses in running order.  Unless on higher than 3,500kg chassis, likely to be problematic.  I would also guess long rear overhangs, so check for this, rear axle load limit, and adequate rear ground clearance.  Both seem to have improved quality over recent years, and are now probably in the mid range.  Chausson (Trigano group) have not always enjoyed an outstanding reputation for customer service if things go wrong.  Can't comment on Adria's customer service.  These rear bed vans seem to be coming out around 2,350mm wide, so they may need to consider overall bulk if they intend travelling down minor roads.  No rear window, so tight reversing without assistance/camera may be "fun".  Chausson kitchen layout likely to work better with hob in corner, leaving useful bit of worktop where it can actually be used.  Adria kitchen with (unusable) worktop in corner worst alternative of L shaped type.  Does the Chausson table slide/fold to allow comfortable walk through from front seats?

These are currently a very popular layout in France, so lots of alternatives that could be considered.  Elliot Easy Elite K (Transit), Roller Team Auto-Roller Joy XL K (Transit), Challenger Genesis 42 & 58 (Transit), I think Sunlight T69 (Ducato), Burstner Privelege T 727 (Ducato), Challenger Mageo 118 EB (Ducato), Chausson Flash 28 (Transit), Dethleffs Globe-4 T 7151 (Ducato), Mc Louis Glamys (Ducato), Pilote Aventura P 736 LCA (Ducato), Rapido 691 (Ducato).  Can't say they equate exactly, or that the list is exhaustive, but all island bed layouts.

We have a welcome 27 which is on a transit base rated from the factory at 3850kgs. It has a rear fixed bed with bathroom to side rather than the Island bed. It is 7 meters in length. Brians comment on overhang is one to watch. Our non standard towbar always bottoms out on the road when turning onto our driveway which has a gentle uphill slope. This is our 3rd motorhome with a towbar and I have not had this problem before. last motorhome was also 7 meters. Haven't been anywhere far yet but will monitor with interest. Stuart
