malc d Posted April 16, 2011 Posted April 16, 2011 Interesting that David ( Klyne) says that he thinks " the problem will gradually resolve itself " Is there a problem at the moment ? Or are the banks just about to create one, strictly for their own convenience.

Or are the banks just about to create one, strictly for their own convenience. Its not my problem! I think cheques are a problem to the banks and their solution is to do away with them so if they succeed their problem will be solved. Most large retailers do not accept cheques any longer. This has drastically reduced the number of cheques being processed and I expect that number will continue to fall therefore making processing cost rise. So could we see in the future that there would be a charge for paying a cheque into a bank account. You could just imagine the banks charging £1 or more to process a cheque. That would seriously put in doubt the willingness of the window cleaner to accept a cheque for £4! David
