Our Burstner Marano is going to have to find a new home, as we are getting a replacement. It's a Le Voyageur LVX 675. They are part of the Pilot group. It's an 2 berth A class with electric drop down bed in the front and rear bathroom. If anyone's interested there are some pic's of it here. http://www.hayesleisure.co.uk/Gallery/29.htm

And it's on the Mercedes Sprinter 2.2 CDI 150 BHP chassis. I can't wait to get my grubby mits on it.

We recently bought a 2007 Pilote Explorateur and whilst we were in the UK had a problem with the door handle on the rear bathroom, so we called at the Pilote factory near Angers on our way back home. Both the Pilote and Explorateur plants are side by side with the Offices and After Sales on the other side. We arrived at 6pm and saw that there were 6 motorhomes parked on the carpark so asked if it was ok to stay there until the office opened the following morning, the answer was yes, no problem. The other motorhomes were Le Voyagers waiting for the factory visit (look on the website). We went into the offices in the morning and explained what we needed, a complete handle replacement, and it came within minutes the cost was 8 euros, it would have been free if we had had our Warranty Book with us. They couldn't have been more helpful.

Hi Peter,

I hoped you checked out the payload as Le Voyager are not known for their spare capacity especially if you have roof air con fitted. Were you offered an up rated chassis?

Lovely looking van Peter - many happy trips in it!

Just a couple of observations - I hope the 'throne room' seating and turning area for the paperwork is more spacious than it looks, and that table looks huge - can you remove it to give more space?

It's a 2008 model Don so no choice re uprated chassis and no roof aircon. With only one drop down double bed it should have around 400 Kg payload. Which should be enough, so long as her indoors doesn't take her whole wardrobe away with us. :D

More room in the khazi than it looks. The table is bigger than that when the leaf is drawn out, but ti is flexible in positioning.

Thanks all for your comments. My wife said it was either get a more spacious van or buy a flat in austria, so it was a no brainer really and the cheapest and more sensible option. My wife is half austrian and has relatives over there. So we have a flat on wheels, so we can see them whenever we want and don't have to worry about leaving an empty flat when we come back to the u/k.

That's handy Peter!

My wife is half Welsh - but it doesn't bring the same travel opportunities!

That looks a very nice piece of kit Peter. I notice that your photo is now gone so assume you have P/X the shirt for it, wise move (lol) I will be in Austria again in end of May and can't wait, Wish I had relatives there you lucky B*****d. My wife is a mixture of Welsh, Irish, Lancastrian and Yorkshire. Three of them are OK but YORKSHIRE....!!!!!! Very embarrassing but I have learned to tolerate it.

So it's a Go Box for you from now on then, What part of Austria are the relatives from Peter.

Hi Dave, no go box required as it's a 3.5 ton van. My wife's relatives are in Salzburg, Viena, the Attersee and Semmering. I don't know if you've been up the Semmering pass, but it used to be very hairy and twisty. Not now as they have built a bridge and a tunnel right through the mountain.

I think the Mods have confiscated his shirt :D ...............

No chance! That shirt is my pride and joy. I've pulled more birds in that shirt than anything else. They reckon it makes me look all vulnerable and cuddly. :D

Hi Peter, I'm surprised that it is only 3.5T, would have thought it were 3.8T. Have done Salzburg and had a great time there listening to the music students busking in the square beneath the castle, superb. Haven't been to Attersee but stayed quite near at Bad Mitterndorf, lovely little site there with probably the cleanest shower and toilet facilities we have ever used, (Caravan Club 5* rating) the owners speak exellent English and it's open all year if anyone is interested. I have never been to Semmering but love passes, O/H hates them unfortunately (for her) although she loves the view when at the top.

Just can't get enough of Austria, It's our Shangri La.

And it's spotless, with no scrotes chucking m/t beer cans all over the place. The people are also friendly and ultra polite. The best thing is the food, absolutely great, far better than germany.

Peter, as you obviously have a handle on Germany and Austria we are planning a trip to do the "romantic road" starting out next week in fact. But time permitting would like to go in to Austria, can you advise the best route from Calais, not in detail of course, but just a general outline, and is it easy to obtain a vignette for Austria, perhaps at the border, many thanks.
