busy builder
When I had a Defender, I altered the seat box, so I could fit better seats. I haven't collected my van yet so not sure what can be done, but my wife will be doing most of the driving. I did comment to seller the seat was a bit high... he just went mmmm LOL ! I have checked the van over and there is no smell what so ever in the van, even the fridge /freezer smelt fresh, I have looked at quite a few MH's over the past few months and none of them came close to this van. It is a credit to Hymer and its previous owners. The quality is there to see/feel the only downside is it's a bit cramped but we'll manage that. Derek Uzzell
There’s a Transit seat-related 2011 discussion here (not all the links may work nowadays) http://forums.outandaboutlive.co.uk/forums/Motorhomes/Hints-and-Tips/Replacement-front-seats-for-mk7-Transit/23666/ The Transit Mk 6/Mk 7 seat-box’s shape is quite complex (see attached photo) and reducing its height would not be straightforward. Although a replacement lower-height seat-box is listed here http://www.jennings-seats.co.uk/shop/20/index.htm this is (apparently) only suitable for the passenger side. The standard Transit seat-box is ‘ambidextrous’, with the same box being installable on the left or right of the cab, but lowering the height of the driver’s seat would present potential interference problems as there’s a battery under it. It MIGHT be practicable to use the lowered-height Jennings box beneath the driver’s seat if the starter-battery were moved elsewhere, but I’d be seriously asking myself at that point whether planning to go to such lengths made good sense. This link is to a Ford Transit forum thread containing photos that show a Scorpio seat on a swivel, replacing a twin-seat in a ‘white van’ conversion - but the new seat looks pretty high to me! http://fordtransit.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=58&t=128548 Suggest you see how your wife gets on with driving the Hymer before getting out the hacksaw.
