eddieandsue Posted May 1, 2011 Posted May 1, 2011 We have read the comments about the above awning which we have recently purchased. We tried to erect it today in the garden and can't understand the instructions which say "Place the metal pin which is on the steel ring into the bottom of the pole" I think we are being thick but there is no hole in the bottom of the pole which we assumed would secure it down? Can anybody help?? (?) *-)
terryW Posted May 1, 2011 Posted May 1, 2011 If I understand you correctly you are looking for a hole going through the pole? If that's the case then it may just be the wording that is confusing, the metal pins goes up inside the end of the pole. I hope that clarifies the instruction.
Randonneur Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 We bought one of these last year and did a lot of head scratching when we first put it up. Eventually we managed it as we hadn't tried it at home beforehand. Next time it should be easier. Just a tip but make sure that the connecting fabric strip is the right size for your windout awning, we got 6mm/6mm and should have got 6mm/4mm, we arranged to have a new one sent from Tamworth Camping to Portugal where we were staying and then it fitted perfectly.
eddieandsue Posted May 2, 2011 Author Posted May 2, 2011 Many thanks Terry, we managed to erect it in 40 minutes even though it was very windy. You made it sound so easy, pity the instructions were misleading. We are really grateful for your help (lol)
eddieandsue Posted May 2, 2011 Author Posted May 2, 2011 Thanks for your advice, we will remember that when we buy the attachment for the Fiamma Roll Out Awning. You were brave going to Portugal before you assembled it!! :-D :-D
terryW Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 Have a great time, we shall be putting ours up in Spain in 3 weeks that's if we can wait that long. If we do, it will be the first time we have not changed our booking to an earlier one.
