Hi can anybody tell me if there is an aire in Les Sables near the town (I will be based about three miles from the town) or anywhere to park for the day I also want to drive out to a few places of interest within 50 miles radius for day trips shopping e.t.c but I will be in my Van and it is 6.8Mt long. "Any (sensible) suggestions"

Mike,

You may find this website useful

http://gb.ot-lessablesdolonne.fr/

The French-language version of the website has ‘camping-car’ information in the “Infos pratiques” section:-

http://www.ot-lessablesdolonne.fr/infos-pratiques/camping-car,1,1,664.php

This warns that there is a by-law banning motorhomes from parking generally in the heart of the city and indicates where parking is permitted (Parking Vinci and Les Salines).

You can also find ‘aires’ information for Les Sables d’Olonne via the camping-car-infos website and, if you select Departement 85 on the map, for the surrounding area.

For places to visit during your stay, I suggest you browse through the following Vendée-related tourism websites and take your pick.

http://www.france-voyage.com/travel-guide/vendee.htm

http://www.the-vendee.co.uk/links.htm

http://www.vendee-tourism.co.uk/

(GOOGLE-ing on “Vendee tourism” will retrieve plenty more websites.)

Slightly off topic but my local baker or should I say boulanger is a frenchman who comes from Les Sables.

I asked him last week how busy Les Sables was in June, July and August and he said very and therefore to be avoided !!

Hi Hymervan.

I know it is busy as I have been there before but not in a motorhome I also know that it would be a nightmare going into Les sables with a motorhome that is why I was asking for places to park on the outskirts to walk in but it seems as tho not many motorhomers visit this area even tho it is a lovely place.

It has lovely beaches and lots of things going on in the summer period and the weather there in that area is warmer and different than other parts of France.

Sorry a bit off topic but, I sometimes have problems, but in my case its with German! So I right click with the mouse over the page I want to read and scroll down to 'Translate with live search' then left click. Can usually make out the sense anyway. I even bought my Classic Hymer from Germany using this.
