Hi all, posted this under hints and tips.(perhaps not the best place!).

I have a Frankia I700BD(2003). One bed ram is US.

Question 1.Can the ram be replaced with the bed in situ?

question 2.Anyone know of UK supplier for this type of ram and do they do reconditioned exchanges.Or anyone know who the German supplier might be.? (It looks like Hymer use the same ram).

Question 3. Is it a DIY Job?

Look forward to your help again.

Many thanks, Dave.

Dave,

I've just done this very job on my Hymer and wrote up the procedure for Motorhome Today. Follow this link to read it: http://motorhometoday.co.uk/index.php?/topic/3971-replacement-gas-rams-on-a-class-drop-bed/

Rams available from SGS engineering in Derby (01332 298126) who will even re-gas the old ones for you if you prefer that method.

Hope this helps you. Send me a PM if I can you further.

Apologies to Mods if they don't like me directing you to another forum ;-)

Regards,

BTW, The rams are probably made by Stabilus, called "Lift-O-Mat". On the writing on them there are some part numbers and a value of 'N'. Mine were rated at 1700 Newtons of force.
