chasson10
Does anyone know if it is necessary to have a red & white marker as a warning sign, on a back box that is fitted to a cycle rack frame, as it protrudes out from the vehicle. thanks p.s. finding lots of useful info from you all, many interesting dicussions as well. :-)
hallii
I have never looked into the legal side of it, mine cost me £5 from the local caravan shop and I simply use it all the time on my bike rack. It's got to better than having somone run into your box? H
flicka
Hi David I'm not sure of the situation regarding the legal requirements everywhere, but on here:- http://www.motorcaravanning.co.uk/shopuk/fiamma_security.htm they state :- "These back marker boards are now compulsory in Italy and Spain for all over-hanging items - even an empty rack! " N14780 Fiamma Plastic Signal (98782-005) Where one EU state leads others follow so, at £6.95 (may be cheaper elsewhere) guess it's worthwhile fitting one anyway. chasson10
Thanks for all the replys, like you say better safe than sorry for such a cheap item. Once again the forum works, for even the silliest of questions, new comers, like me, dont be afraid to ask.
bobalobs
I vaguely think there was a post saying that the panel in Italy has to be made out of metal which may account why Fiamma make one at £25 plus! We were stopped in Spain a few years ago and they were more than happy with our £5 plastic version.
flicka
Well done Bob. Correct - plastic version is not compliant for Italy, it has to be metal.
