The man and woman had stopped on the northbound side of the A249 Detling Hill when they heard a noise coming from the back of their camper van. They saw three or four balaclava-clad men hitting their vehicle with baseball bats and crowbars. One of the men threatened them with a firearm. Police said it had been a "traumatic experience" for the couple. The gang made off towards Sittingbourne in a blue Sierra-style car after the incident on Friday night.
