hymer1942
Hello All, I have just bought myself a fairly expensive Electric bike and I am finding getting insurance when away from home a problem. The problem being I dont have a garage in my Hymer so the E Bike will have to overnight be chained to my tow bar and that for the insurers is no good enough. Does anyone out there have had the same problem and did you manage to solve it. Barrie
EJB
I believe that bike insurance is only valid if the bike is secured to an immovable object.....ie.....not a motorhome! PS. This doesn't help in transit but a suitable tree will suffice when on a site!
thebishbus
HI. I have bike cover for £1000 per bike included, home or away with my Co-op house contents insurance. I think M&S cover bikes up to £4000, home or away, with their home contents insurance, worth checking out. Brian B.

Correct, but they dont cover electric bikes, always say "peddle assist" when talking to insurance companies.. I would buy an ALMAX motorbike chain and lock and not worry about it when travelling... mel wood
We had no problem insuring a similar bike on our Household policy with Prudential. It was covered throughout. the EU as long as it had a lock on it. We usually locked both of our bikes together and to a tree or fence or lampost.
