Randonneur
We called there today to have a look as we were going to Angouleme shopping, as one of the Forum Members thought it was closed. It is open and there were about 5 vans on there. This is the Aire just past the Patinoire (Skating Rink) and Swimming pool complex.
sooty10
The one we visited in May was behind the information office, it had room for about 10 vans. The services were closed and the motorhome aire sign had been removed. We asked a French family in a motorhome and they said it was not possible to stay overnight anymore. Not sure if it is the same aire as you mean but it is only a short walk to the lake. We would be interested to learn of another one near the lake as we will be down there again in a couple of weeks. derek500
I believe it has a relatively short season. We've never been there when it's been open, but have parked up overnight, albeit without services, near the car park entrance opposite.

robertandjean
We reported it closed following reports on the French camping-car web sites. Have just looked again and camping-car infos no longer list the aire next to the tourist office, just up from lake as open. What is listed is that there are 8/10 spaces available for parking only but only from 8.00 to 21.00 and not overnight. A new camp site is also listed further on road at around 12/14 € night inc hook-up. No mention of aire next to swimming pool but this maybe new. It was in the afternoon when we wet to have a look, didn't look to see if the services were open. I didn't say that the Aire was next to the swimming pool I just gave that as a direction only. I don't know anything about a campsite in the area. The signs are up for tent camping in the field across from the tourist Office. As far as only being able to park from 8am to 9pm, can't see it as the French think that they can stay overnight as their right and there are no barriers. There are height barriers at the car parks further toward the lake where the bus stop is.
