ham
There have been major traffic jams around Newport with The M4 shut both ways due to lorry Fire westbound brynglas tunnels. The tunnel could be shut for days whilst an inspection of the damage is carried out. They may open the east bound tunnel with a contra flow which will cause major tailbacks .http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-south-east-wales-14293311 Any one heading to or from west wales might think about using the heads o f the valleys trunk road the A645. I was caught in it this morning and it took me 2 hours to get around Newport all of 5 miles.....
ham
As expected the one tunnel will remain closed whilst an inspection takes place to see what repairs are required. All traffic west bound is now using the Eastbound tunnel contra flow, the queues this morning rush hour where 5 miles on each side of the tunnel.and out side of the rush hour periods there are still long delays. Colin Leake
Given the speed limits the Welsh have on the M4 most of will notice little difference. I find my wife has to keep an eye on their speed limits so I don't get done!
Madmaggott
M4 is always horrendous; we don't use it unless absolutely necessary; rather use the 'A' routes and take it slowly by choice than be stuck in traffic chaos!
ham
Brynglas tunnels open both ways now but west bound as 30mph limit. the West bound tunnel will be closed each evening for ongoing repairs.
