We have been plagued of late by telesales and research people, just had one such person on saying hello i'm Kirsty, have you got 3 minutes to spare to answer some questions.

I have now turned my answers into an art form, I told Kirsty exactly what I could do with her in 3 minutes, dont think she was amused seeing as she slammed the phone down.

It's Kirsty I feel sorry for.

Working hard, probably not well paid ( but paying her taxes) and doing a job she may well hate -

- and the poor girl is now getting abuse.

:-(

Sorry Malc, I dont agree with you, these people are professionals and they are used to being rebuffed and insulted, they chose the job and have to take the rough with the smooth.

I am self employed and always on the look out for new business but I do not phone people at all hours of the day and night invading their privacy, I get my work either by spending heavy money on advertising or word of mouth.

Nothing more annoying to get telesales people ringing you when you have just sat down to a meal, or you're in the bath or sat on the loo trying to sell you something you dont want.

She might be working hard, paying taxes or doing a job she hates, thats not my problem is it?

When we had budgies I used to put the phone in their cage. They loved it.

I like the ones now how ring to tell you you have a problem with your computer. If I'm not busy I string them along for as long as possible then tell them "that's remarkable. We don't even have a computer". Well it keeps me amused.

Malc,

Have you registered with the TPS (Telephone Preference Service)?

If not I strongly recommend you do as after a short while all the nuisance calls WILL stop, and if you do get one you simply say you are registered with the TPS and please can they remove you from their list. If they start getting stroppy then ask for their company details and they normally hang up pronto and don't bother you again.

We now get a maximum of one nuisance call a year so well worth doing.

Keith.

PS Google TPS for contact details.

We have been registered with the TPS for several years, and it's worked just fine up until recently, but now we are getting quite a few calls.

Not sure why - desperation, perhaps?

I can't imagine anyone 'choosing' a job in tele-sales. 8-) It's a hard world out there for jobseekers, especially the youngsters.

I read yesterday that the UB40 song 'One in ten' is way out of date now; it should be called 'One in five'

Scary >:-(
