Colmar and the area around. Riquewhir, Eguisheim, Kayserberg - all very attractive indeed. We spent a few days exploring this area earlier this year.

Gerardmer [on a lake] in the Vosges. There was an Aire in the centre of the town.

Cascades de Herrison, and surrounding area, in the Jura.

Colmar is a wonderful old town full of charm & grace - well worth a visit. I don't know about Sites or Aires but I imagine there will be plenty.

Mulhouse is industrial but contains one gem - the Schlumpf Collection (Cite de L'Automobile) of cars through the ages. Even if you are not a car lover, the history & scale of the collection is well worth the visit.

We find the whole of the Alcase a nice area.

Strasbourg itself is a nice blend of old town and new, well worth a visit. Obernai is one of our favourite places with a nice municipal to stop at see

Follow the wine route south if you like your wine, Ribeauville is good with good Aire (though there are Aires in most of the towns, Colmar is worth a visit as is the French National Motor Museum at Mulhouse particularly if you like Bugatties! Interesting to see the full grown Storks strutting about and the way the build their nests in the chimney stacks. Also the region is both French and Germanic due to its varying historic occupancy over the centuries.

There are various festivals at this time of the year going on in the towns, so normally lots to see and do but as ever it is very much what is one mans meat is anothers poison.

Very nice area loads of Chateaux, plenty of wine producers (nice to put a place to the name on the bottle) enjoy your visit.

After Basel if you have time make your way down to Annecy (180 miles) Must be the most beautiful place in France, supposed to be the cleanest Lake also. Certainly has views to die for, can even Tandem dive (parachute) off mountain tops, the 2 statements are not linked by the way!! (lol) ENJOY

if travelling through Belgium (to avoid tolls) a nice stop is the Aire at Hans Sur Lesse, just out side Rochfort...very picturesque and touristy small town famous for its caves I think. but great eating and drinking!

Aire nice and quiet, 10 euro including electricity/water/waste. there is even a toilet block.

Alsac a nice region but we tend to try and get furter south for proper weather....
