nightrider
Some vans are parked up on the drive for weeks at a time, what do other campers do to keep their leisure battery fully charged?
Guest 1footinthegrave
I take both of mine off, and give them trickle charge through the winter, but also after insulating the leads take the van for a run say of 20/30 miles every couple of weeks to stop other items deteriorating like discs and tyres. nightrider
Would there be any problem in keeping the van "hooked up" while on the drive with the zig switch in habitation mode just as if you were on site?
Basil
That is how ours is left at all times when at home. I also have a trickle charger conected direct to the engine starter battery via a plug and socket that I plug in to one of the mains sockets if the motorhome is laid up for any sort of lengthy period, i.e. more than a week. DESCO
When at work had this problem as never knew when I would be at home and cured with a time switch, which is still in use today. It is a programmable version that I have set up to turn on for a few hours each week, this turns on the EHU that I have at home, battery taken care of, job done. nightrider
From Aldi I bought one of those small battery chargers that you use on say boats, motorcycles or any other type machine that is laid up for long periods, i think it cost about 12 quid at the time, i use this particular charger for the main vehicle battery.
