Aircon problem

hello

I have a problem with the cab aircon factory fitted to my 2005 Lunar Roadstar 630 - 2.8JTD powered Fiat Ducato 15 .The aircon has always worked, but last month it developed a fault.

When I switched on the aircon the button lit up, and the aircon started working. But after 30/40 seconds the light went off and the aircon shut down . I immediately pressed the aircon switch but it would not light up and the aircon stayed off. After a wait of 10/15 mins, I pressed the swich again, and it lit up and switched on the aircon, but after 30/40 seconds the aircon stopped, and switch light went out. Irrespective of whether the engine was running or not, the same fault occurred.

Now the switch will no longer illuminate when pressed and the aircon isn't working at all.

I could have the Aircon system refilled - but if the fault is something other than a lack of 'gas' I will have paid £80 for the refill, then the system will have to be drained - the system fixed and then another £80 for a refill.

I have discussed with a local 'aircon' specialist but he isn't sure what the problem might be but he thinks that it isn't a fault due to a lack of refrigerant.!

Anyone had a similar fault/ experience with a factory fitted Ducato cab aircon system.? Any ideas as to what the problem might be ?

Thanks for reading

Sounds like a fault on the control circuit or the compressor, usually when the gas is low the cooling goes intermittent them finally stops. Just been through that with my car local garage was doing a deal on aircon servicing now running fine and my wallet is only 20 quid lighter, 80 quid sounds a bit OTT.
