jupe Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 Hi all, I have a 2004 A class Burstner Elegance and need to get at the engine battery as been having a few probs and it looks like the original battery still. Is it really as horrific a job as it seems, ie removing the privacy blinds and dashboard. I'm sure this topic came up before but some time ago and I can't find it now. I read somewhere that you could access the battery by unbolting the power steering but that there was hardly any room still to get the battery out. Any help from all of you experts would be appreciated. Jupe
maggyd Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 We rang around to get a battery for our Kontiki and took it there after a job starting it we just got there and it died outside the door :-S O.H. was glad he took it in as he said he would have had a hell of a job they are awkward and very heavy.
maggyd Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 http://www.aclassinfo.co.uk/mypage.14.htm Is this any help?
Mike H Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 I enquired about replacing the battery when I had an Elegance. You have to unbolt the power steering reservoir and move it out of the way, then the battery can be slid out. Mind your knuckles, Mike.
Derek Uzzell Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 jupe These are a couple of earlier threads that might help http://www.outandaboutlive.co.uk/forums/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=18286&posts=10 http://motorhometoday.co.uk/index.php?/topic/2272-replace-the-engine-battery-burstner-a-class/ and there's also a "Cab battery access - Elegance i821G" thread on www.motorhomefun.co.uk that I haven't got access to. Sounds like it's going to be fun!!
