Whatever your views on Afghanistan I think a big hand must go to the locals and others who turned up to line the streets to pay respects to the brave lads and lasses in Wootton Bassett , which comes to an end today . Surely one thing we can all agree on .

I would hope so Antony. I was in Wooton Bassett a couple of years ago when a procession went through - very moving. The townspeople are incredible and certainly speak for me by way of their actions.

I am delighted that their respect for the fallen is to be recognised by the renaming of the town as "Royal Wootton Bassett".

I think they spoke for the vast majority of the country Clive. Even those who oppose the war if they have a thread of decency running through them. :-)

It's good to know that the town has recieved recognition for the respect they demonstrated towards the service personel. There was no organisation when it started just an impromptu gathering which took hold and they represented the country. Hopefully Brize will continue this now tradition although i hope and prey they don't have to.
