Hi all, Having recently moved to France, we have bought a caravan for additional room whilst renovating our house. We have bought a Star BT55B from a local French couple. The caravan could use some modernisation aswell as some parts that are essential: skylight, corner jacks etc. However, our dilemma is that we cannot seem to find any info on the net for this caravan. Is it now called something else? The caravan was registered in 1984 making it quite old. It is a twin axle version if that helps anyone. If anyone has any information on this type of caravan then we would be eternally grateful. Thanks very much, Daz.

A GOOGLE search on "caravane star" (note French spelling) gets a fair number of hits on French websites. All the caravans involved seem to be from the 1970s/1980s, so the chances are that Stars were French-built and that production did not continue beyond the 1980s. (I've no clue whether the maker lives on under another name, however.) It's probable that a well-established French caravan dealer will know about Stars, but the chances of you obtaining proprietary spare parts for them nowadays must be pretty slim. In practice, caravan skylights are normally standardised within a limited range of sizes and you ought to be able fairly easily to find some corner-jacks that can be adapted to your caravan. Not much help I'm afraid, but it's a start!
