Lots of sites in ACSI book for Portugal, close to towns and villages.

Agree - we use ACSI loads, and there are lots of them in Portugal (and a gradually increasing number in Spain too).

Usually the description of that site in the book will tell you how far to town etc; if not then just google-map the sat nav co-ordinates of that site to see how far out of town they are.

Just remember that the ACSI card last for a calendar year; thus the 2011 discount-card-and-sites-book only last until 31.12.11.

You'll need the 2012 from 1.1.12 onwards..........

thank you for much for your help , we have never had ACSI CARDS where do we apply :$

They run from 1st January (I think) until 31st December each year. You can buy them at Vicarious Books or go to the ACSI website and buy there. They are based in the Netherlands but you can buy the English version, about £11 I think. You buy the book and the card is on the flyleaf inside.

Hi,

You may have trouble finding an ACSI Camping-card for this year so late in the season as some of the places that sell them have sold out and the new one for 2012 won't be available until December. If you call in to a site in the discount scheme they may have the current book/card for sale but it will be in French etc.

For Portugal we obtained a free Orbitur discount card for seniors - depending on your age of course - which worked out cheaper than ACSI sometimes with a 10% discount. We applied online and it took a few days to arrive. They have several reasonable sites mostly around the coast.

Over on another ('fun') forum a group are heading here http://www.campingpinarsanjose.com/ for the winter. Apparently they went there last year and had a really good time.

This is an ACSI site (no 1775 in 2011 book) and quoted at 13 Euro including 15A electric and lots of sunshine!

Extended stays can be had at the following rates..........

1 month 300 euro/mth = 10 E / day

2 months 275 euro/mth = 9.16 E / day

3 months 250 euro/mth = 8.33 E / day
