Set tasks before you move off site

Hi All

I was wondering if members have any set tasks before they move off site.

We always have a routine 1. fridge on 12v. 2. all other twelve volt systems turned off , E,G panel system off.

3. Hook up cable if used disconnected. 4. All hatches closed. 5. All pipes stowed away E.G. waste water.

I think most of these tasks are common sense, the reason I mention the above, this Summer I have seen two caravan and one motorhome hatches blow off the vehicles on motorways, could be expensive if it was one of the bigger hatches.

Drive off of chocks, retrieve and stow.

Ensure step is retracted - should be automatic but has been known to fail

Ensure blade in cassette is fully closed - especially when it is not empty!

Ensure TV is secured.

Ensure Status aerial is lowered and secured facing the right way

Ensure fridge door is locked shut

Turn off gas

I have also done this ploughed a couple of nice furrows, but an older motorhomer came to our rescue and gave me some advice and have never done it since. When putting down legs place winding handle across pedals

Quick check but however thorough we are there is allways a drawer left open of the fridge not switched over or a vent left open so now we just accept that after a mile or so mrs ips will have to go back there and sort it out :-D

Yes we all have our set tasks and routines before we leave any where I used to do mine in the same order everytime so that I knew I'd done it....Then the vehicle "First Paraded" to make sure all is OK then the final check round the pitch before rolling out and away!!

Hello Terry,

You have been given lots of good ideas for checks, some of which are universal, whilst others depend on your MH. In my experience everyone needs a list specific to them and their MH. Our list is written, with a permanent marker, on a white cloth which we place over the steering wheel whenever we stop anywhere. As it covers the steering wheel it firstly reminds you that there are things to do before moving off; secondly, it reminds us of our check list and finally it has the added advantage of keeping the wheel cool in hot sun. It works for us.

Regards,

Carl
