OxfordMorgan Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 Hi all, Firstly, does anyone have any good idea's about where to hide a key when we are of to the beach. I have seen a few "Key Safe" but i cant see anywhere to fit one? Also, Interested to see if anyone knows where to get a replacement key for a 2005 Autocruise Sarasota. I was told by my local locksmith to contact the vehicle manufacturer. Obviously its not a Peugeot key and Autocruise "changed" when they became part of Swift. Thanks Morgan
johnnerontheroad Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 Morgan, If you leave a key in your M/H even in a safe your insurance is invalied. I have a Al-KO safe hidden in the double floor and fixed but the insurance company would not accept this they said it is no different to leaving the key in the ignition. Take it with you Dave
Tony Jones Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 Your problem with this question isn't just the insurance. If anyone HAS a really good, foolproof idea of how to hide a key (or a keysafe), they aren't going to post it on here, in the public domain, are they?
dikyenfo Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 I know it seems strange but looking after 2 sets of keys is a nightmare as there is a constant worry that will be lost or stolen or whatever. I now lock them in the digi safe and have made a copy of the 2 door keys and string them round my neck and for me this is better than lumping around house-MH-and trailer keys x2 as wife has set as well. The cord is adjustable with 2 sliding knots that make a secure fit and can swim or whatever and no worries.
thirtle26 Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 We too have a 2005 autocruise sarasota (purchased in April 2011) with only one engine/door key. We have been trying for months to get as spare - with no luck. Timpsons tried - got as far as obtaining key and code to access control panel but it wouldn't let them put in code. Then we went to Peugeot dealer in sheffield. Same problem. They have now suggested having a new control panel fitted £88 plus key and coding £202 = £288 - a lot of money and they can't guarantee it working because they/we don't know what previous owners might have tried. Would be interested to hear if you got your key sorted. June
tugga Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 We had a bunch of keys each that contained Hab door/locker key, petrol cap key and ignition key. All together they were very bulky so we took the hab door keys off and we have one each and the petrol & ignition keys stay together. When we arrive on site, my set of ignition/petrol keys goes to the bottom of my handbag and the hab door key goes into my key pocket of said handbag. Handbag goes everywhere with me. OH carries his hab key in his pocket and the ignition key set gets put in the safe along with our house keys. I didn't know that this would invalidate our insurance :$
hallii Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 When I go to the beach I hang my keys round my neck on a dog lead. They are just the right legth and have a, errr, dog clip on one end. If you want to go swimming put them in a Tupperware box and tuck them down the front of your Speedos, ignore any catcalls from the ladies on the beach! My keys are :- hab. door key, water cap key, ladder key, bike lock keys x 3, garage keys x2, ignition key, alarm fob, safe key. That makes 12 and then Mrs H has another set. They are an impressive sight hanging round my neck as I walk through a small Spanish fishing village or somewhere. I must look up what "Inglés turístico estúpido" means! H
OxfordMorgan Posted September 30, 2011 Author Posted September 30, 2011 ha ha..love the idea of keeping them in the Speedo's... Brings a new meaning to calling them "Budgie Smugglers"
colin Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 There are water proof key 'pods' that you hang around your neck.
