QUIZ: Guess what we brought back from France!

The Quiz bit is at the bottom foranyone who doesn't want to read the rest of this. :D

Whilst tootling about on holiday in mainland Europe, mainly in France, we bought a few bits and pieces, some new stuff from retailers and some pre-loved from "vide greniers" - for anyone who doesn't know what a "vide grenier" is, it literally translates as 'flea attic', but is basically like a flea market/car boot sale combined - the village closes some of the streets for the day and the householders/locals set-up tables outside their homes and sell their unwanted chattels with others from the locality coming and setting up stalls too (as in the car boot sense). Often there are musicians and other fun things going on, a bit like a mini-fete.

Anyway, I digress, we bought loads of bits and pieces including a very nice 'surplus to requirements' wood effect kitchen door which will make a very nice shelf/work surface for the camper and another with real wood veneer with will make a lovely single bed headboard ... each for the princely sum of 2 euros!

But the best bargains came from an Auchan store at Clamecy ... I treated myself to a nice set of Tefal pans, the type with removable handles, it consists of 3 saucepans, 1 frying pan and 1 sautee pan with lid (deeper sides), 2 storage lids for the 2 larger saucepans so they can be put in the fridge and a removable handle - it should have been 50 euros which was a very good price but if you bought them, and showed your Auchan card (we just got one there and then), you got 5 euro discount voucher.

Now for the quiz: I thought it might be fun for you to try to guess what we used the 5 euro voucher against - here are some clues:

1. it is mostly green

2. made of plastic

3. large & had to be transported on our bike rack

4. is very useful

5. the original price was 50 euros and was reduced to 10 euros, but we got it for 5 euros by using the 5 euro discount voucher!!!

Go on, tell me what you think it is ... I'll be amazed if you work it out from that!!!!!

8-) (lol)

I hope it wasn't a dose of Snail Fever - highly contagious on contact but quite slow to spread!

How about - Parasol? Dusty Bin? Inflatable Husband? Magic Carpet?

Bamboo plant?

edit - oops! can't be as misses two of the clues. So instead shall go for small plastic garden swing for the grand children. (I am sitting here going through the Auchan Website -- fat lot of use it is helping!)

I could leave you to keep going through the catalogue as a penance for cheating ... but I'm not quite THAT cruel ... so I'll tell you ... they aren't selling it now as I suppose it was classed as a 'seasonal product! :D

A wheelie bin full of plonk 8-) Rear axle probably over loaded.

Dave

Not right ... but you're getting warmer ..... whilst it is big it isn't heavy so no problems with the axle weight/payload.

I am too late to guess what you brought back from France. However like you I have brought back lots of things apart from wine. I used to have a house in France and hated to leave all my tools and bits and bops behind! Our motorhome has been filled to the brim during various trips.

By the way "vide grenier" means empty or clear out attic. A flea market is a "marche (with accent) aux puces".

When you drive around you will see signs on big sheds with "puces" on them, that usually means a place where you can buy more clutter for your house!

Most towns have periodic vide grenier events. There was a regular one on the boule terrain outside my last apartment. I stayed away from them on strict instructions from my wife.

Mel now do we have to guess where the heck did you put it to bring it back???????? :-)

Maggy - put your glasses on girl! 8-) Read no 3. above ... on our bike rack !!! *-)

Got some funny looks from other motorhome owners ... must've though it was a very weird back-box!!! ... :D

Art - yup, that's what I thought too ... and judging by the state of our garden, it'll take a few trips to clear all the 'jungle' so it will certainly earn its keep! :-D
