This site, that is. Just when I thought it was as slow as it could get, it is getting slower especially tonight. Absolutely pathetic. >:-)

Phew - what a relief - when I saw the thread title I thought for one dreadful minute that Peter was going to volunteer to run the country!

But, sighs of relief, it's only about the lack of terminal velocity of this forum - again!

We have been promised another unspecified 'improvement' again in October Peter - so all is not lost!

Cheer up they said, things could be worse, and so I cheered up and guess what................................?

Now what was that song title - 'things can only get better' !

I have always felt that this forum is just a thorn in their side, that most of the staff would like to get rid of.

None of them seem to want to manage it which is why it takes an age to get any response out of them, unless someone says something about a large advertiser with them, then miraculously it disappears.

New threads are few and far between, usually a repeat of another one and people are beginning to get bored and wander elsewhere, the staff must be joyous!! :-D :-D

Could the reason no one is posting is because they can't? Not only can I not get on site sometimes but when trying to either post or add a new thread the site goes off making it impossible!!

Looking forward to October - if your going to Lincoln may see some of you there.

Now then its even let me reply to a post this morning so things are looking up lol (lol) *-)

Hi everyone

I think a few of you are also on the other thread about the slowness of the server that I have commented on but in case you don't see my posts on there.

I just wanted to update you again and let you all know that the order for our new servers has now been 100% confirmed, notice is being given on the old set-up and the technical team are already working on the preparation work for the migration.

We are still confirming the exact schedule for the migration but the aim is to complete the work during the first half of October.

We will let you all know when we have exact dates and any expected down time we will have during the move

Thanks

Amanda

I last log off on Monday evening and have been unable to get back onto the magazine site let alone the forum :-( Somehow I have managed to get back onto the forum today at 4.30pm but it has taken 20 minutes of messing about plus 3min to log on. *-)

Thanks for the update Amanda,

The new Servers will certainly be needed for when you launch the Digital Magazine, otherwise it will be a disaster as I can;t see anyone taken up the option unless responce speed improves dramatically.

I am no computer geek, but the Facebook group that I run is far superior to this out and About shower, its a constant battle to get anywhere, think I will give it a miss till they sort things.

Whats this that I heard that you spent all you navy leave down the "gut" in Malta?

Well Warners must have done a little tweak, it's running a wee bit faster today but not by alot. Small mercy's.

Malc do you mean he was in the 'gut' or the gutter, I think the latter :-D

Strange place Malta, couldn't make my mind up if I liked it or not. Have been 3 times and still not sure. It was a great place for classic vehicles tho, and to hear a AEC Mandator well overloaded with about 30ton of cement on it ,coming up towards Valletta then turning of down to the docks and having no silencer was really something else, and I'm deaf, had to switch the hearing aids off 8-)

I admit there were some nights when it did appear to be ‘dead slow and stop’ but also it is better today.

However groaning against Warners is probably not going to achieve too much. Other Forums run by magazines in the hobby have similar complaints and again, any time an advertiser is mentioned possibly unkindly, deletion can often occur. After all they cannot bite the hands that feed them can they? We do not pay a subscription so as a ‘freebie’ let us be thankful for small mercies. At least the Moderation on this Forum is pretty relaxed and topics are allowed that would receive immediate disapproval elsewhere.

If the promised improvements occur then things will be better. Beginning to sound like Cleggy methinks.

Been to Malta about 6 times, really enjoyed it and like you say the classic vehicles were a treat to see, the last time I was there I think they were introducing Malta's version of the MOT, if it had 4 wheels it would pass the test
