Can anyone recommend a campsite or CL/CS close to the M6 before reaching the mad Birmingham traffic

A site that I was looking at but not got round to using is the Forestry Commision site on Cannock Chase.

 

Minimum facilities and about a tenner a night.

 

Warden comes round in the evening to collect the money.

 

If you are interested in off-road biking the main FC trail runs very close to the site.

There's a CS at Tunley Moss Standish. Short distance from the Motorway (sorry can't remember the exit no). Hardly any M6 noise. Think it featured in the mag in the last month or so. It's called the Two Oaks and you need to phone for security code to access the field. It's in the CCC sites book, possibly under its previous heading of Standish/Parbold. We've used it many times and would recommend it for its easy access to the M6. There's also a pub within 20 mins walk doing good food. And a BP? garage just off the motorway for topping up. Enjoy your trip.
