Sammy Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 I intend fitting an indicator buzzer as detailed on page 222 of October's MMM. My base vehicle is a2004 Fiat Ducato. Does anyone know the colour code for the wires concerned behind the direction indicator lever? The alternative may be the two side indicator repeaters, but I just cant see where their cable runs are. My thanks to anyone who can help. Sammy
Brambles Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 Hi Sammy. Forget the stalk wiring, it is a two way switch connected to the dash computer/module which then controls the power to the indicators. Instead pick up the cables to the indicator circuits. The side repeater wiring goes into the inner wings quite high up and forward not quite where you expect to find, but goes to the main lighting connector which is right hand side of dash and low down behind the access panel. Look for the harness which runs down on the right to go under edge of carpet/trim and to rear. The multiway connector carries the power for all rear light functions. Unfortunately I cannot remember the colours to look for. However they are easy to find by just putting on the 4 way flashers and using a volt meter. You will have two sets of cables in the connector jumping up and down with 12 volts...left and right. Then you can use indicators with ignition on to identify each circuit. If you have an after fit alarm fitted then chances are this is where the installer has tapped into the indicator as well. Jon.
Sammy Posted October 2, 2011 Author Posted October 2, 2011 Hello Brambles/Jon, Very many thanks for your advice - just what I need. I will have to wait till next weekend before I can tackle it but I think I have all I need now. Again, my thanks for the time and trouble you have taken to help me. Kind Regards, Sammy.
Brambles Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 Do not worry you only need to remove the lower access panel not the lower dash panels complete. Jon.
Sammy Posted October 2, 2011 Author Posted October 2, 2011 Jon, Thanks for the photo - just wonderful - can't wait to get started - if only there were 30 hours in each day !!! Again, my sincere thanks for what you have done, Kind Regards, Sammy.
Brambles Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 Ok Sammy, got some more info for you which may help you. I may just be giving you porkies here saying both indicator functions are on the connector shown. The wiring diagrams which I have now managed to read on my new computer by ( manually finding the appropriate files!!!!) show the left indicator wiring goes off to the left and the right goes off to the right. Now this is strange because having checked my wiring for the alarm (flash indicators function) , it is definitely only tapped into the harness to rear of the connector I showed in photo, or so I believe. So, basically if you do not find both indcators on D026, then you will need to tap into the opposite side equivalent D025. Jon
pkc Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 It never ceases to amaze me how much effort posters on these forums give to help those seeking advice. Restores my faith in human nature, well done that man, and all the other real experts.
Brambles Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 I forgot to add the colour codes. The wiring chart says AN for offside indicators and SB for nearside. AN = Light blue / black SB = Pink / White Do take with a pinch of salt as often I find Fiat wiring is a completely different colour from the charts, but is a good starting point when looking for cable colours as usually but not always correct.

Sammy Posted October 3, 2011 Author Posted October 3, 2011 Jon, Once again sincerest thanks - work permitting I hope to do the job tomorrow - I'm certainly not anticipating problems because of the help you have given, or is saying this inviting trouble !! Answering PKC - it certainly does dos'n't it ! Kind Regards, Sammy
Sammy Posted October 4, 2011 Author Posted October 4, 2011 Jon, Job successfully completed. Finding the tap in points was so much easier thanks to your detailed sketches. For the record the colour codes were as you said. Once again, many thanks for your help and who knows, someone else may be able to use your info as well. Kind Regards, Sammy. :-D
Brambles Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 Well done, and glad codes are correct. However, did you find the near side indicator in the loom on the offside or did you have to go across the dash with the wiring? Jon.
Sammy Posted October 5, 2011 Author Posted October 5, 2011 Jon, I just took a wire from the near side connecting block underneath the dash to the 'large hole' underneath the instrument cluster (just two screws to undo and the whole unit tips up). The buzzer is fixed with a double sticky sided foam pad ( as used in decoupage) to the metal plate underneath. I can now hear it with my hearing aid switched off ! I find it best travel this way otherwise I hear too many noises that worry me !!!!! Kind Regards, Sammy.
