Heki 2 Rooflight

Road Pilote

Recommended Posts

Having discovered cracks in the frame of my Heki 2, I have purchased an exterior frame in the hope that I could replace this myself. My problems have started with the fact that I cannot get the original exterior frame out. If anyone has any tips on removing this I would be grateful. I would also like some advice on how to take the pins out at the bottom of the gas strutts.

I am beginning to wonder if I have bitten off more than I can chew and should call in the professionals!

Also, whilst I am out on the roof has anybody any advice on how to clean off the small black spots that seem to be all over the roof.

Look forward to any tips that can make things easier. Thanks

Have you tried going onto YouTube to see if there is any film regarding taking out a Heki? Always a good starting point. The internet is a huge resourse for most things :-D

Good Luck, I hope you get your cracked Heki sorted out.

I suspect that your main challenge may come from the method that's been used to seal the rooflight to the motorhome's roof. If a non-setting 'mastic' has been used, then removing the rooflight may not be too difficult. However, if a 'constructional' adhesive (eg. one of the Sikaflex products) has been employed liberally, then you may have a helluva job getting the thing off.

Can't really advise regarding removing the black spots unless you can say what they are. You might (carefully) try AutoGlym's Tar Remover

or Fenwick's Motorhome Cleaner

Otherwise the questiions/answers on the following webpage may help
