big olga Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 Hi, Now that the mercedes benz has had her auto transmission fixed [new T C shaft seals £15.00 from M B and £200 from the ex M B mechanic all is well again]. We went to see the Fermanagh Seaplane Festival 23rd to 25th Sept The Sea planes were good but the Stars of the show were Two Catalina PBY,S The 32 year old Motorhome/camper performed very well except for a bit slow hill climbing! all the equipment worked and the tesco kettle and toaster were excellent ;also the argos oven was first class [£30] I just love the feeling you get when we hit the road and have every thing we need on board ;it brought back all the memories of our first Motor home a 1973 C.I.Autohome which we had for thirteen years! "Big Olga" completed a 230 mile trip with no problems ,this is the first of many and was a good training exercise . Best Wishes dave and "Big Olga"
CliveH Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 Any pictures of the seaplanes Dave? And if you like electrical gadgets for cooking etc. we have found our Halogen Oven bought for £26 from Robert Dyas amazing. It does Toast right up to a full roast dinner!! Would recommend it.
big olga Posted October 8, 2011 Author Posted October 8, 2011 Hi, Clive H, Our Oven is the same one; the top of it gets quite hot so it is a perfect plate warmer! We met a couple and their teenage son who were new to Caravanning ;just one month ;as they were driving off the site up the hill, their break away cable pulled the brakes on on the caravan. as i have had two caravans in the past I went over to help. The van and car were close to another caravan outfit, the man came out moved his own car about 6 ft and retired to his caravan! So there was the Motorcaravanner helping the caravan people out! we put blocks at the wheels and unhitched the van and let the car back on it,s handbrake this gave us slack to unclip the cable. the family went away happy and I was glad to be of help [Motorcaravanners code] Dave.
nowtelse2do Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 The Catalina and the Dakota must have been two of the finest aircraft ever made. I know there are others but those two are in the top ten. Dave
