Tiny Tim
I seem to have missed Rachel Stothert's piece about re registering from P/HGV to Motorcaravan. Can anybody enlighten me as to the problem and why this should be done. As far as insurance goes, I am with Comfort and I cannot remember them asking the taxation class. Robinhood
I think you may be confusing two different items. It is advantageous under certain circumstances to have your Body Type registered as "Motor Caravan" (for MOT purposes, speed limit calculations, etc - and most factory-converted vehicles will have been registered as this), but your Taxation Class (in your case at least - as I believe your vehicle has a MAM of greater than 3500kg) is correctly shown as Private/Heavy Goods. Some vehicles converted after they were first registered (e.g. panel van conversions) have been registered with a body type of other than "Motor Caravan", and this is where there has recently been discussion about problems in redefining the value. What is the Body Type (field D.5) on your V5C?
Tiny Tim
Thanks for the clarification - you are right and I do have Motor Caravan down as body type. Panicking about nothing again! Tim
