Mike B.
Hi All My tailpipe has rotted and I am unable to buy one for the van. (2005 2.8) I read on here a while back about someone who had had and extension tail pipe made by a fabricator for about £30 and showed a picture of said pipe on the forum-does anyone remember it or know where it is stored under what? I have searched under exhausts, tailpipes etc and can't find anything Anybody help? Or does the original poster still have the info? Any help would be appreciated Thanks Mike
Robinhood
Well I certainly posted some time ago about having such a pipe fabricated using the original as a pattern. (didn't post a picture though) http://www.outandaboutlive.co.uk/forums/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=21933&posts=30 It was the final pipe, beyond the last box, and was bent to shape with a hanger in the appropriate place. I removed it myself, and the part was turned round in half a day, costing me just over £20. I subsequently refitted it myself. All by: http://www.bmtyres.co.uk/ (Their exhaust branch in Mansfield is "small" (for that read rather tight for a 'van - hence my removing the part myself) but is not far from their factory, where they manufacture after-market catalysts, and the pipe was done there - with them transporting it across). I found them by asking at local indpendent exhaust outlets for somewhere that would fabricate - I was also recommended somewhere in Nottingham. I would have thought you might find somewhere close to you by the same method - (A tailpipe on its own is not difficult to fabricate).
Rayjsj
It all depends how much of the tailpipe you are talking about ? My tailpipe rotted too, only the final 9" or so, so i bought a 'tailpipe Chrome trim' for about £12 from Cak Tanks, this was just long enough to direct the exhaust away from the bodywork and away from underneath the Van. I have plans to get a Stainlees Steel exhaust fitted when one of the boxes go. Ray
Retread24800
You've got me worried now, replaced the full system last year in the middle of the Auverne at a village garage, no problem but mine was a 1993 model, should I stock up for the future or is it just a problem with a non standard Exhaust?Standard Fiat 2.8 Exhaust kit
Mike B.
Thanks guys for the info so far Unfortunately the chrome end isn't long enough as it needs to be about 12" minimum At present the exhaust ends just under the air vent for the gas bottles-can you believe it??? I have tried to source a 64mm diameter pipe to attach myself but am struggling at mo. A fabricator offered to make and fit a piece for (Can you believe it??) £145+vat !!!! (complete exhaust is only £144 inc vat) Needless to say, I decined and am looking at buying a piece of 70mm steel tube and cutting it myself at present Please keep the suggestions coming Mike

Then all it needs is cutting to length. Mates rates £10 non mates rates £30 from any decent fabricator. You must have some other fabs in your area ??? B-) (as always, however, the problem is finding someone with the capability - hence, presumably, the request from the OP)
Mike B.
Hi Guys-I've solved the problem. Got in touch with a specialist exhaust company and the Iveco Daily tail pipe fits the Ducato with a bit of persuasion! Found a company in Ossett (A&M Specialist Exhaust Centre) and they were brilliant-even stretching the pipe to make it slide on easier. Cost: Pipe £17.25 Clamp 85p Total inc vat £21.66-Big difference to the guy who wanted to charge me £145 + vat!! Took me 10 minutes to fit it! If anyone has the same problem would definitely reccomend this company-01924 271836-ask for Mark Thanks for all the tips and advice Mike
