flicka
Got this e-mail today of new Vacuum, looks like it could be useful in the Motorhome (?) http://www.blackanddecker.co.uk/homeproducts/productdetails/catno/ORB48CRN/
yeti
Very ingenious design I hope its not 'all show no go'. Maybe it will be reviewed on the Gadget Show.
Mel B
It appears to only be intended for picking up crumbs etc - all design and not much use really IMV ... beside I already have crumb picker-uppers ... my dogs! :-D
Guest 1footinthegrave
My daughter is a sucker for these type of things, she bought the previous cordless hand held offering from this company. As is often the case it was on her boot sale not long after, resorting back to a damp cloth and dustpan, and no need to charge them up either. It was to be frank total junk, don't waste your money Flicka
flicka
I think I have to agree, Mel. I've been looking for the price & eventually found that it's £49.99. So appears it could well be another product based on form over function. Still can't find any info regarding battery life.
Guest 1footinthegrave
Isn't really the case that so much of this stuff should just go straight to landfill, or better still never get made in the first place, I mean a handheld vac for your breadcrumbs, its really what the world needs. :-S
Derek Uzzell
I'm not fond of cordless tools if there's a realistic alternative. I carry a Black& Decker 'DustBuster' 12v corded vacuum-cleaner in the motorhome. It's 6 years old now and the nearest current B&D model is probably the AV1205 at about £17. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Black-Decker-1205-Vacuum-Cleaner/dp/B000GPPNHE The reviews on Amazon of that product are mixed, but I've been happy enough with mine. The power cable is long enough to reach from front to back of the vehicle and (because there's no internal battery to run down) there's always plenty of 'suck'. Various reviews (some quite ancient) on: http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/products/products/59067/car_vacum_cleaners.html http://www.whatcar.com/search/car+vacuums/news/ http://www.crowdstorm.co.uk/shopping/handheld-vacuum-cleaners?pdg=cs179149606_2156829046_1177604851&gclid=CJquz7iVuKwCFZJc4QodRxM0Hg http://www.which.co.uk/home-and-garden/laundry-and-cleaning/reviews-ns/handheld-vacuum-cleaners/

John..... run time is 8 minutes first time charge 20 hours for details click the specification button on your link For a decent motor home vac the Black and Decker PAD 1200 12v vac takes some beating We've got the 18 volt Black & Decker Dustbuster pivot. Massive suction but limited battery life. We brush the body of the motorhome carpets with a stiff brush and then use the vac round the edges and in the corners etc. I must say it works very well and in addition it is handy for odd jobs in the house when one does not want to bother with the mains vac like cleaning up after a bit of DIY. alf
The only problem with rechargable vacs they are short run time and long recharging time a 12v dc vac as I see it is a far better buy Alf
mikebeaches
I've got an incredibly ancient corded 12-volt vacuum cleaner, but it works an absolute treat throughout the van. Everything I've ever read about cordless ones is that they are hopeless. Nonetheless, thanks for the link Flicka - interesting to see the latest gadgets. Will watch with interest to see if any reviews emerge.

flicka
SHMBO liked the compact style of the B&D Orb-it, as a replacement for our (was) rechargeable a similar shape to the B&D AV1205,on Derek's post. It must be getting on for 40 years old, as it is a carryover from when we have self builds Vans, in the 1970's & the battery will no longer take a charge. (does nothing last these days) ;-) My preference is (I think) the current B&D 12v models, then I will not be reliant on EHU or internal battery life.
