fairweather camper
Hi, We are hoping to travel to Germany next year June/July, can anyone tell me where there are some nice lakes, not too far into Germany where my Husband can windsurf straight from the Van, Aires or campsites, or even wild camping, thank you in anticipation. Val (lol) :-D ;-) :->
lennyhb
If you don't want to go to far how about the Lauenburg Lakes Nature Park, north east of Hamburg, a bit further over Schwenner See is very pleasant. If you are prepared to go a bit further Chiemsee in Bavaria would be perfect for your requirements. You will probably get more replies if you repost on "Motorhome Matters"
peejay
Hi, I posted this on another forum last year, obviously you would need the Bordatlas for it all to make sense and the references might not work with the 2011 edition as some more might have opened, some might have closed etc but it could be a handy list for you to research from..... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- German motorhome magazine Reisemobil International recently published a list of stellplatze that are next to or near to natural or manmade lakes in Germany. Reisemobil International also happen to produce the Bordatlas as well, so the list all cross refers nicely to the 2010 edition of the book. The list is in Postcode - Map Page no - Grid Ref order, but you can also find the placenames easily as they are listed in alphabetical order in the book. So, if you like pitching next to water and you've got the 2010 Bordatlas, this might come in handy..... AliB
Try the Rurtausee in the Eifel National Park. It is not very far into Germany. The lake winds arround and around. We hired Indian canoes with the objective of paddling to the other end. We never made it to the end even with a 4 hour hire period. The scenery is superb but there must be something wrong with this lake because even in August it was deserted. We stayed at the stellplatz in Heimbach which is about 1 mile from the lake, but there are lots of campsites around the lake.
Hawcara
The Eifel National Park is where Vogelsang is situated. This was designed by the Nazi's in 1934 ish to be used for their civil service I think. There are various statues around the site and a large underground swimming pool. It was used by the military after the war and I had cause to 'visit' it at one stage. I would be interested to go back at some point if time permits.
