Meg
Hi there, Can anyone advise if the smaller (Adventura) Pilote motorhomes are well-built/value for money? The one we have our eye on will fit a treat in our garden - but equally, so would a Hymer (although with only one dealership selling Hymers there is not a lot of competition!). Appreciate any answers Meg
Guest peter
Have a look here. http://www.outandaboutlive.co.uk/Motorhomes/Reviews/Motorhomes/Pilote-Aventura-A656-UA/_ch1_rw744 And here. http://www.caravanselecta.co.uk/reviews/pilote-pilote_aventura_a710_2011-review.aspx They are well made and a bit more classy than a hymer in my opinion. Randonneur
We have a Pilote and are very pleased with it. Very well built with double floors. Best one we have had so far, in the past we had a Rapido and a Laika and both of them were well built but this one is the best.

Appreciate any answers Meg I can't really advise on value-for-money, but you might want to note that the bodywork construction of Pilote's current "Aventura" range is conventional, with a wood skeleton frame, aluminium-clad sidewalls, a polyester roof-skin. and styrofoam insulation. Hymer's construction materials/methods are more technologically advanced and should provide better insulation and resistance to water-ingress. And, of course, there's the Hymer name... Pilote's 2012 catalogue indicates that the shortest Aventura model is the low-profile P600LPA at 5.99m long, with a couple of 6m-long A-class designs (essentially revamped "CityVans"), while the next shortest is the P670LPA at 6.76m. There will be many other makes of motorhome that have similar dimensions (UK- or Continental-built), so you aren't restricted to just Pilote or Hymer. fairweather camper
We have an older Pilote Galaxy, our 5th Motorhome, including Hymer, and by far the best.
Brock
Looked at Pilote very closely over the last 12 months on numerous occasions as they layouts and size suited us. However, compared to our Hymer, the quality of workmanship left something to be desired so we stayed with Hymer. With Hymer, it is the things you don't see that make the difference. With Pilote, the finish just looked like it wasn't! Which magazine said in 2001, on the Pilote Reference G640 was nearly as good as a Hymer. Need to think carefully about Hymer now Hymer UK has shut. Need to think carefully about Hymer now Hymer UK has shut. That was 10 years ago, I think things have changed a lot since then. Our Pilote is exceptionally well built with a double floor and excellent insulation. We had a Rapido at one time and I thought that was the Bees Knees until we got the Pilote. Guest pelmetman
I always liked the look of the Pilotes, even so my old man had an "A" class that leaked like a sieve*-)
