mig
Hi all, Iam about to update my motorhome with a 2002-2003 Hymer or Ace based on a Fiat chassis. What is the difference in power between the 2.3 td and the 2.8 td as I will be using it to tow my light weight racing car and i do not want to struggle going up hills. Derek Uzzell
Fiat's figures are: 2.3JTD - 110bhp@3600rpm & 27.5kgm@1800rpm 2.8JTD - 127bhp@3600rpm & 30.6kgm@1800rpm Nowadays there is also a 146bhp version of the 2.8JTD but I think you won't find this in a 2002/2003 Ducato-based motorhome. Clive
Always go for the biggest most powerful diesel engine available. The imrpovement in ease of driving by having more "grunt" and the longer legs make driving so much more relaxing. Thats irrespective of the make and model. I went for the "economy" (cheap) version once, never again. You will soon forget the pain in the wallet, its the pain in the backside when you are constantly downchanging, especially with a trailer behind that you don,t want. Go for it!
