Clive
Hello Mrs Hancox, Some questions first :- 1) What size inverter is it? 2) What size fuse is it? 3) Is the inverter new or an unknown quantity from elsewhere? 4) Are you connecting the positive wire (RED) to + on the battery? 5) Do you have any apliance connected to the inverter output when you connect it and switch it ON? 6) When precisely does the fuse blow? On connecting it up or switching it ON for example. If you can answer these questions with a little detail we have a fighting chance of giving you some advice. Good luck Clive
johnsandywhite
:-D Hi mrs p hancox. I presume you mean you are blowing the fuse when you plug the inverter into the Cigarette lighter socket? If so? Then the inverter is pulling too much from the socket. Maximum of around 10 amps from these sockets. Only suitable for small Inverters. Perhaps if you tell us what size of Inverter? Where you are plugging/connecting to and anything else you think may help us to diagnose your problem? ;-)
mrs p hancox
thanks people found problem. We were trying to fit inverter to pals van, when problem occured (any one want a tin load of broken fuses) eventually found problem to be inverter was 300 tv was 90 or so we belived as our mate had been told when brought it at camping shop WRONG tv was only 90 but pulled off 400 when first powerred up discovered this after reading his manual, replaced inverter with larger one no problem, so warning to all, read manual on any thing and don't ever belive the sales man!!! PS only good thing was kept hubby and mate quiet for hours!!
