Handy bit of tackle

What would you say is the most handiest gizmo you have bought for your van? What about a torch I hear you say? handy in certain situations but when you have rummaged through your cupboards only to find that the torches batteries are flat not much use is it?

One of the best things I have bought is a windup torch, small enough to fit in the palm of your hand or in your pocket, 3 LED bulbs give you plenty of light and only cost £1.99 from a pound plus shop.

I have it on my bedside table for when I go down stairs on my nochturnal wonderings for a brew and a snack, dont have to turn all the lights on and can see when I am keying in the code on the burglar alarm. a dead handy piece of tackle.

When I first got into camping activity I used to have a CB rig and had a lot of fun with truckers going down the black slab, when we go down the south west which is a 300 mile journey for us we always travel at night when the roads are quieter. My cousin then bought a camper and travelled in convoy with us, my cuz is the type that gets lost when he pulls out of his street, so he bought a CB so we could keep in touch and tell him what we were doing etc, but there was too much "skip" on the CB, so i bought some walkie talkies which turned out to be a real boon to keeping in touch with each other, another handy bit of tackle, can be used for various things such as when me and the wife are wondering round markets, we both go our own way and I can buzz her and say see you at the cafe, or see you at such and such stall and bring your purse with you as thare are a few bargains here.

Guest Tracker

No question of it - the sat nav - as it enables the navigator to enjoy the trip without being sat with map on lap following the route and waiting for the next confusing signpost to suddenly appear when you least expect it!!

After all it is her holiday too!

This "Convert-a-flap" conversion cost me £19 direct from the guy who makes them - he advertises in CC mag (and elswhere I am sure) - The result is nothing short of fantastic.

The normal folding table was such a pain in that anything on it had to be moved before it can be extended.

But with this conversion you just slide the bottom section out.

A real benefit.

This site has good pictures of the before and after.

Bought 2 small movement activated LED lights from Aldi, run on single AAA battery & still not replaced batteries after 3 years.

Great for nocturnal visits & no fumbling for light switches, just a wave of your arm.

Or anything else within range. :$ :D

I'm unsure of the best thing I've bought but the best thing after going out in the van for the first time that I brought with me was the missus. I was so pleased I've taken her every time since :-)

Well given you've paid for the marriage licence you may as well get your money's worth.

My 3Kw 2 stroke generator is a real boon whilst wild camping in a nice quiet glen or on a french aire. But it come into it's own at the motorhome shows, when we like to watch tele' or entertain into the wee hours in the awning with 4 500 watt halogen lights to iluminate the jolity. :D
