One for the Ladies.....Hair straighteners

With the crisis hitting hard in Spain we love to save money if possible by wild camping... and the only niggle I found was not being able to straighten my hair..... I don't mind air drying the bulk of it, but my fringe has a mind of its own and is far too wild!

I have a 12v hair dryer (about the same power as blowing on sections of your hair!) so air drying is probably quicker. But on the straightener front I ordered these 12v ones -

Various companies on Ebay offer them.... and they're great! they do the job without the need for hook up!

(They aren't as good as the hugely branded GHDs - but I'd recommend them if you can't go without!)

Perhaps if you had a useful husband he could cobble a length of water pipe to the blown air heating system outlet, put a 90 degree bend on the end and say 'there you are my love a perfect hair dyer'. ?

What a fabulous idea Mr Batty......how did you come up with that one? Very off the cuff indeed. It would indeed take a very specially DIY minded husband to do something like that - someone who loved his wife very much indeed!

And that sort of person would have to have a wife that loved him very much as well to reply ' thats lovley darling - how thoughtful' Then remove the pipework, get a proper hair dryer & straighteners while he was on his next DIY project still feeling very happy with himself.

:D

Me thinks the tube & hood from a 70's Ronson Hairdryer would do the job, Keith

New readers should tread VERY carefully around this part of the thread. "Sparkle" has been very naughty in not replying immediately, saying who her husband is (although clearly Mel's been around long enough to know!).

Come on Kathy - stop disowning the poor guy!!!

AND ANYWAY ... who says this thread is "one for the ladies??"

(lol) Rumbled by Tony - I know that could invite all sorts of comments.....I haven't been avoiding commenting, merely that I have been absent due to chasing around for other reasons out of the office..............

I can say I am VERY happily married ....to my wonderful husband, who is a great DIYer..... and who can turn his hands to any challenge you give him.........so my husband is far more than just useful.....he is indispensable....... and by far the best husband I have ever had!

BGD - will you please stand up and accept the first place rosette for best DIYing husbee???? :-D :-D

Come on Bruce, we know you're there somewhere!

Have you changed much in the last 3 years?

Tony - I can say BGD has changed from your piccy !!! He has given up smoking and put on a 'little' weight !!!

However - much better for ditching the weed - well done that man.

Apologies to Mutley - title of pic has now been changed on my file!

And well done to both of you (or should that be "all of you"? - I'm sure Mutley had to take a lot of stick while you two were achieving your goals!)

LOL - Thanks Tony! I can't say it was easy - for any of us, but we survived! And Mr Batty is right - I never thought Bruce would quit, but he did, and I am SO proud of him for doing so! :-D :-D :-D
