Robinhood
The Blaupunkt Travelpilot 500 is not a Satnav commonly found in the UK, but was fitted as standard for a few years in Hobby Motorcaravan conversions. I have seen a number of requests across various motorhome forums as to whether and how POIs could be added to the device. (the manual is, shall we say, less than useful in the "how" department). The general response to these requests have ranged from the "impossible" to the "very difficult" - and is, I think, based on experience of other Blaupunkt devices (such as the Lucca, which Swift for some period fitted as standard to their conversions). The Travelpilot 500 is a very different beast, and in fact, installing and using POIs on the Travelpilot 500 is relatively easy (easier, I would say, than a TomTom); it uses formats (.csv .asc .gpx) which are commonly available. It can also process a significant number of POIs and categories, and is very versatile in doing so. I have, since owning mine, successfully managed to talk two other people through the installation of a comprehensive set of POIs. Their installation and use increases the versatility of the device no end. So, I've posted this thread here such that it can be found by search engines - and if anyone wants instructions on how to install POIs on a Travelpilot 500, then please PM me, and I will share. AliB
Now if you had a set of insructions for POI on a Lucca that would be interesting. As the maps are 2007 era and no updates are available maybe a new device is called for in 2012.
flicka
Hi RobinHood It would be helpful for the future if you post this on "Way to Go's" sticky thread - "How to load POI's ................" It will then stick around (sorry for the pun) for all time.
