Roy53 Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 Does anyone know of reasonable quality iPod docking station speaker which can be used at home, on hookup and on van or leisure battery?
Caddies104 Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 Hi You can buy just a speaker for the IPod from Amazon (X Mi 2nd generation) they are really good and only cost £12. They also fit the IPad and the sound is very good. Perhaps not quite what you had in mind but a start. Derek
Roy53 Posted January 2, 2012 Author Posted January 2, 2012 Hi Derek Thanks for your reply and suggestion. We already have an x-mi speaker which we have been using. What we are really after now is something with a better quality sound and that we can use on the road as well as on sites. We don't want to go to effort or expense of upgrading built in speakers in van even if that were possible as we will probably be changing it in 2 or 3 years. Roy
Keithl Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 Hi Roy53, Have you looked at the Gear4 range? I'm not sure which would be suitable or even most appropriate but my kids use the rechargeable models in the bathroom at home. If you find a model you like then make sure to shop around for the best price. HTH, Keith.
snowie Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 We have a JBL dock with AM, FM and iPod + Aux; we use it in the van on 12v or mains hookup, and at home in the kitchen. Speakers are pretty good and sound is very acceptable. Don't use it on the move, as Sony unit in the front has CD and iPod connection.
Archiesgrandad Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 Hi We have a Bose docking station for our Ipods/Iphones etc., the quality is superb and we use it for around the house, pre-recorded music for church, and in the van, quite superb. Ours is mains only, but there is also a portable version which can run on batteries. Cannot recommend too highly. AGD

AGD Hi Archiesgrandad please could you tell me the model number of this docking station and where I might find one. Anybody tried one of those ipod transmitter things where you tune it into your radio?
Caddies104 Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 Hi Yes they work well, and do not cost much. Just tune in to a number where there is no station, then tune in the device to that number, and then your away. Derek
Keithl Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 dawki - 2012-01-05 9:44 PM Anybody tried one of those ipod transmitter things where you tune it into your radio? Dawki, I have used a small Belkin FM transmitter on and off over the last 10 years or so and found the results very variable. For example it is very good when stationary or at home but poor when on the road as you when you move into and out of range of radio stations you have to keep retuning to a clear frequency. On a regular run I finally found a clear frequency for the whole run and all was then good. I also used it extensively across France, Germany, Austria and right down to the south of Italy but would definitely NOT recommend one for this kind of use as the interference from radio staions renders it almost useless. Purely my view you must appreciate. What radio do you have in your MH as I think the best option is a hard wired interface or adaptor to connect via a 3.5mm jack, then you will have no interference to worry about? Let us know what radio you have and we'll see if we can recommend a way to connect directly. Keith. Edit. Spelling :$
dawki Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 I have a JVC kd-dv4202 unit connected to the flip down tv for playing cd+ radio+DVD's when i got my ipod a brought one of those JVC ks-pd100? to connect into the back of the stereo unit But then discovered that the socket was taken up by the tv I think, so there was nowhere to plug in the KS-PD100. hence seeking alternative
