Symbol Owner Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 Sibelius? Sure is Mike -- glad you enjoyed it -- try this. Fabulous! Colin.
mikethebike Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 Great stuff Colin. One of my favourite pieces of music is the Intermezzo from Cavalleria Rusticana by Mascagni. It was my mothers favourite, I had it played at her funeral 12 years ago it still makes me cry whenever I hear it. Its got to be one of the most moving pieces of music ever
Syd Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 Hi Colin Thanks for those pieces, I am familiar with the second piece, beautiful. I have many CD's that have been given to me over the years and as I now have some spare time I am slowly working my way through them. It is my intention to make up some CD' with my special favourites on them ready for our holidays
Symbol Owner Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 Hi Syd, Yes, I often fish a bundle of CDs out of my collection and take them with us when we're touring in the 'van, it is good to re-visit old favourites, or sometimes play tracks that we've not explored before, when the dark nights and rain keep us in! However, she who must be obeyed has now got a telly for the 'van! Reception can be pretty bad ( or impossible) at some of the little out-of-the-way places the we frequent though.............. if she will give me a boxed set of all of the string quartets of Haydn for Christmas (23CDs!), I shall have to work my way through them sometime! 'A labour of love', believe me. Happy listening Syd, (not forgetting Mike and Martyn, who started this thread!) Cheers, Colin.

Get an i-Pod or one of the other cheaper music players. Put the head phones on, close your eyes and then you are both happy. It works for us.
Symbol Owner Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 Thanks for that suggestion, Chris, although I'm not sure that I can master i-pod technology :$ I bought my daughter one when she went to Australia -- and was astonished to see her 'rip' (is that the word?) not only her entire music collection (over 100 CDs!) onto the infernal Steve Jobs creation, but also all of the photo's that she had stored on our home computer from 3 travelling expeditions in the Americas! A while back, I might have 'sniffed' a bit at the sound quality of a machine like that, but I believe that it is probably at least up to full C.D. standard, and maybe even SACD. Anyway, my old hearing is on the wane, so I probably wouldn't notice anyway (!) I do have a pair of high class Sennheiser 'phones which I use in the house -- so I'm halfway there! Cheers, Colin.
